The North Wales town of Mold is home to one of the largest and best remaining street market in the area. There are several types of Market available in Mold. There is a Street Market held every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year with over 70 stalls in the High Street and through to Daniel Owen Square. On this Market you will see a huge variety of produce including fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, crockery, clothes and plants. In addition to this there is an indoor market open Monday to Saturday with a wide variety of stalls, and a Farmers’ Market which occurs every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month offering a great range of freshly produced food, drink and crafts by local farmers and skilled crafts workers.
Mold is also home to a traditional town centre Livestock Market, one of the very few still operating in the UK. This market operates every Monday and Friday morning on King Street and is ran by J. Bradburne Price & Co. The Market prides itself on being a quality shopping environment, managed by Flintshire Council so all traders are professional with high standards to ensure customers peace of mind.
We made use of Mold Market more than ever during the COVID-19 Pandemic. On a Saturday we would head up there to support small business and local suppliers during what has been a terrible time for many. It was a chance to chat to others, see some smiling faces and feel good about helping the local economy. The site has been set up for social distancing, and all precautions were being taken. Please note – since restrictions have eased, the market has been busier, so if you are concerned about crowding / social distancing and have the chance to visit the market at quieter times / days, then please bare that in mind.
During the lockdown, we brought Safi the Labrador home, and the Market has been a great place for her to do some socialising with humans, different environments / sounds and other dogs. As she has got older, we have taken her back most weeks to do some more training and socialisation and both Dogs love their trips up there – especially when we visit Nick the Butcher and he puts little extras in for them – spoilt!
Mold is also home to some great independent shops and café’s – with Reubens being a favourite of ours as it has plenty of seating outside for when we take the Dogs with us. If you are after something a bit stronger, the Mold Alehouse is also dog friendly.
There is plenty of parking in Mold on Market day – we always head to the following spot as there are plenty of spaces and it is only a short walk to the high street / square to reach the Market.
