St. Winefride’s Well & Shrine, North Wales

St. Winefride’s Well & Shrine

The chapel onsite was constructed in 1490 over the well which has welcomed pilgrimages and visitors for over 1300 years. It lays claim to potentially being the oldest continually visited pilgrimage site in the United Kingdom and is a grade I listed building and scheduled ancient monument. The healing waters are said to cause miraculous cures, with one report suggesting a one year old blind child was able to see after being bathed in the waters.
